Email Marketing – Avoid The Spam Folder Of Doom!

Here’s some of my top tips to make your email delivery more effective.

1 PERMISSION. Never send emails to people that didn’t opt-in to receive them. They’ll mark your emails as spam and the rest of your newsletter volume will suffer.
2 FREQUENCY. Send at least one newsletter a month. If you fail to keep in touch, subscribers will forget they gave you a permission to email them and will
mark your newsletters as spam.
3 SPAM CHECK. Always run a SpamScore Check before you send your campaign. It’ll tell you if there’s a chance that the email will land
in the spam folder. there’s lots online you can use.
4 CONTENT. Keep the content of your emails clean. Watch out for risky words (“buy”, “promo”, “free”) and don’t overdo them. They can alert the spam filters.
5 WHITELISTING. Ask every subscriber to add your FROM: address to their address book. It’ll be “whitelisted” and all your emails will land in their inbox.
6 INBOX PREVIEW. Make sure you use this feature to test if your emails display correctly. Problems with the HTML code can also affect the delivery of your emails.
7 AVOID GIMMICKS. It’s that simple. Don’t make any fake promises in the subject line or promote products you can’t deliver. This can cost you more than good
8 PLAY IT SMART. Avoid using free web-based email addresses for your sender addresses.
9 CAPITALS. Do not use ALL CAPITALIZED WORDS in your subject line or body.
10 CUSTOMIZE. Use custom domain email address that is linked to your website. You will then be able to setup DKIM & SPF,
which will allow for email authentication by the recipient servers.
11 BE A CLEAN FREAK! Regularly update and clean your contact lists. Monitor your mailing results, and remove older non-engaging
or blocked email addresses. Focus on the people who are most interested in your newsletters
